In a separate section specifically labeled September 19, it lists costumed interactions, a nine-token collecting activity, a symphony concert and an evening light-and-laser show. Do not build a September 20 or later trip on the assumption that those opening-day events repeat at the same hour.
The announcement says that exhibition areas and a market will continue during the Mid-Autumn and National Day holiday period, organized into four themed weeks. That tells you the festival has a broader program beyond opening day; it does not provide a complete daily timetable for every performance, boat musician or gift exchange. Before you leave Beijing, check the latest day’s notice from the scenic area or phone its information desk. Ask explicitly whether a particular activity is running on your date, at what time, and whether a separate booking is needed.
What the nine scenes actually help you see
Use the nine-scene idea as a way to explore Huanghuacheng’s setting, not as a rigid checklist. The official list includes a lighted entrance, a lion-dance welcome, a banner performance near the iconic bridge, costumed border patrols, pipa and guqin music by Haoming Lake, harvest-themed installations, lantern-themed heritage imagery and a chestnut-orchard encounter. The official program includes a chestnut-growing granny encounter among the nine scenes and a longer-running exhibition area centered on the area’s chestnut-growing history. Those two claims are related but not identical: seeing the orchard or exhibition does not guarantee that costumed staff or a gift exchange will be present on your particular visit.
For families, the orchard can make the day feel less like an uninterrupted climb. It offers a different way to talk about the surrounding villages and landscape. Stay on marked visitor routes, do not pick fruit or enter planted areas unless an activity explicitly allows it, and check any participation terms at the venue. The Beijing municipal Huanghuacheng attraction listing, published in March 2026, lists a standard adult scenic-area ticket of CNY 60 and seasonal opening hours. The venue’s own website lists summer daytime hours of 08:30-17:00 on weekdays, 08:00-18:00 on Saturdays and Golden Week holidays, and 08:00-17:00 on Sundays and the last day of a holiday. Those are daytime scenic-area references. Neither source by itself establishes that every 2026 festival performance, boat ride, workshop or evening event is included in ordinary admission or continues until the normal gate closing time. Confirm the current ticket bundle, last entry, boat charges and any evening arrangements directly with the operator.
